What does Shoonya do?
The state of shoonya also known as nirvana, freedom from the bondage of life and mind. This freedom is the purpose of Buddhist meditation – teaching the state of nirvana where the activity of mind, intellect and emotions comes to a total standstill. In Yoga, we use shoonya meditation as a step from dharana to dhyana. Shoonya is a state of emptiness. It is a state of mind where there are no thoughts, no feelings, and no attachments. It is a state of pure awareness, bliss, love, and happiness. Buddhists use Shoonya as a synonym for the ultimate stage of meditation.Shoonya” refers to “zero” or “nothingness,” and through this meditation, one is taught to achieve a state of pure stillness where mind and body shut down all activity. When a person reaches that state, the person realizes cessation of thoughts, emotional variations, and the mundane perception of the world.
