BYD TANG is designed specifically for modern families, providing a spacious 7-seater layout, advanced 4-zone intelligent voice interaction, and multi-functional adjustable seats that offer the ultimate in flexibility. The Tang isn’t coming to the UK for the foreseeable future, but it is possible that it may join the UK range within a few years, following a planned facelift. The BYD Atto 3 crossover is the first car from BYD to go on sale in the UK, and is being sold through established, independent dealer showrooms as of 2023.
Why is BYD not in the UK?
China’s BYD blames Brexit as it rules out UK for first electric car plant in Europe. The world’s largest seller of electric and hybrid cars will not consider building its first European car factory in the UK because of the impact of Brexit. The scoring system penalises countries with carbon-intensive energy grids, including China, Korea, and Japan. This environmental focus means popular Chinese electric cars like the BYD Dolphin, MG4, and even UK-favourite MINI Electric (which is built in China) would only qualify for the base £1,500 level at most.
