Is Fisker still in business in 2025?
On June 17, 2024, Fisker filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in Delaware, listing liabilities at between $100 million to $500 million and assets between $500 million and $1 billion. The company stated that possible deal talks with a big automaker collapsed, which led it to its bankruptcy. Fisker’s operating arm, the Fisker Group, officially filed for bankruptcy in the USA on 17 June, after failing to find an investment partner to rescue the ailing operation. Despite hitting key production and launch date targets, Fisker was hit by softening demand for the Ocean and supplier issues.Documents revealed since the initial filing, though, make it seem unlikely the company will recover. Update 7/22/24: Fisker’s largest secured creditor revealed in court proceedings it intends to convert the bankruptcy to Chapter 7 liquidation, which will put the company entirely out of business.Fisker Inc. Is Fisker officially dead?
Once one of the next-big-thing EV startups poised to take on Tesla, Fisker Inc. That’s not counting the previous car company started by founder Henrik Fisker, which went bust in 2013 before making 2,500 cars. After a short and contentious contract, Fisker left and soon after announced his own company with the stunning Fisker Karma plug-in hybrid. Tesla responded with fury, launching a $100 million lawsuit alleging that Fisker had intentionally sabotaged their project and stolen trade secrets to launch a competitor.
Why is Fisker so cheap?
Well, it’s because Fisker Inc. Ocean, is bankrupt. This brings a slew of issues with it, including sparse spare parts availability and haziness regarding servicing. With the current model still missing a lot of promised features, and the company’s future in doubt, we can only recommend one thing: Do not buy a new Fisker Ocean.
