Why did tritium fail?
Tritium struggled to stay profitable, and its first-generation 50kW chargers were reported to have reliability issues that hurt its reputation. Struggled to raise enough cash to cover its expenses, especially as the overheads from building a new factory in the US continued to rise. Tritium may have been a pace-setter but its first generation equipment proved to be unreliable, and many charging hosts complained of the difficulty in securing spare parts and repairs.
Who owns tritium charging?
Tritium has undergone a business transition and is now owned and operated by Exicom Tele-Systems. The company continues to operate under the Tritium brand with renewed focus on electric vehicle charging solutions. In August, India-based Exicomm agreed to take over the company, promising to keep Tritium’s factory in Lebanon, Tennessee open.
