What happened? Shell recharge is ending service for third-party operators. On december 30, 2024, shell recharge announced that it would be discontinuing its shell recharge ev charging solution for third-party operators. The shell recharge card is an alternative to using the shell app for starting, stopping and paying for your ev charging sessions. You can order and activate the card through the shell app – either during registration or later via your profile page.There are four ways to start a charge on a shell recharge unit. The easiest way is to tap your contactless payment card on the terminal. You can also pay by apple pay, and google pay if you want to use your smartphone or smart watch. You can also start a charge via the Shell Recharge app or with a Shell Recharge card.We recommend to have the BYD app and complete the application form to request the Shell Recharge X BYD charge card. When the charge card is shipped to you, you need to activate the charge card, but you do not need to activate the discount. All active Shell Recharge x BYD charge cards automatically get the discount.
Is Shell Recharge fast?
It is possible for some vehicles starting at 20 percent to get to an 80 percent charge in 30 minutes or less using our high-powered chargers (150+ kW). Charging speed depends on several factors, including outside temperature, type of car, size of battery and battery condition.
Is the Shell Recharge app down?
The Shell Recharge App will be discontinued in North America as the primary access to the Shell Recharge Network. Drivers will no longer be able to download or log in through the Shell Recharge App. The history of your charging sessions will only be accessible in the Shell Recharge app and will not be available through the Shell app.
