Is the electric Mokka a good car?
The Mokka Electric is just 4. Being the parent to an 18-month-old child, practicality and boot space are key for all of my daily drives. And the compact but practical Mokka punches above its weight when it comes to storage. Even after you’ve digested the styling, the Mokka offers plenty to like if you can put up with its compactness. Its engine range is fantastic, with eager turbo petrol engines and a refined fully electric offering that’ll slash your bills if you can charge at home.Vauxhall Mokka Hybrid Where it excels is in real-world fuel economy. Despite the small battery, it’ll do around one-third of your short town trips (like nipping to the shops) without the petrol engine, so it’s truly efficient. A plug-in hybrid wouldn’t go amiss here, but this mild hybrid is mightily impressive.
Is the Opel Mokka a reliable car?
The latest Mokka in petrol form finished in 11th place out of 38 cars in the small SUV class in our most recent What Car? Reliability Survey with a good overall score of 96. This placed it above the likes of the Nissan Juke and Vauxhall T-Roc but below the Audi Q2 and Mini Countryman. Sadly, while the Mokka X is perfectly fine to cruise around in – with a comfortable ride, strong economy and quiet new engines – the handling is lacklustre and the performance is middling at best. And to top it off, the newer Vauxhall Crossland X is nearly as big as the Mokka X, is more efficient and better to drive.In a nutshell: The Vauxhall Mokka is a mixed bag for reliability. Early Mk1 and Mokka X models are more likely to suffer from issues such as weak air-conditioning (failing compressors), oil leaks between the engine and gearbox, rear brake problems, dual-mass flywheel rattles and small electrical glitches.Both cars offer comprehensive modern technology, but the Mokka has a slight edge in terms of the sophistication of its higher-end infotainment systems and driver assistance features.The latest generation of Vauxhall Mokka looks sharp, drives well and feels modern inside, marking a huge improvement over its predecessors. It comes from the Stellantis era (Vauxhall’s parent company), which means it can dip into the Peugeot and Citroën parts bins for efficient engines and a comfortable ride.
